The AICTE accreditation

ACCREDITATION by the AICTE is a process carried out through the autonomous statutory body called the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for periodic evaluation of institutions and their progress based on the guidelines, norms and standards set by the Council. It is based on an assessment of the physical infrastructure, availability of competent and qualified faculty, teaching-learning process being followed, R&D work, placement of students and other aspects of relevance.

Institutions can apply for accreditation any time after two batches of students in each programme have passed out. Accreditation is now based on a marking system on a 1000-point scale. The validity of accreditation is five years for those programmes obtaining more than 750 marks and three years for those graded between 650 and 750, which meet the minimum criteria but still have marginal deficiencies.
